Is it possible to add tags (metadata) to files ?

Under Consideration
More generally, it would be nice to be able to add custom fields (beyond size, creation date, etc.) and allow users to update those fields with the appropriate information.
 
Kind of like the EXIF metadata associated with JPEG photos.
