Should GIF files "play" in viewer?

When I view a GIF in the viewer it is static.  Expected?  Should the animation be visible?

Yes it's expected. I don't think document viewers like Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat play animations?
In FileUltimate, we have an Image Viewer which plays the animated GIFs. We plan to offer Image Viewer as standalone component so for image files it would be better fit.
