DLL 10x bigger

I just downloaded the latest. I see that the FileUltimate DLL went from ~1.4 MB to ~14 MB this summer. I'm curious as to what caused that? Static compilation?

The DLL size is increased mainly because of the new file icon sizes (256x256, 96x96, 48x48 and 32x32 pixels) in addition to 16x16 pixels and the bundled video converter (ffmpeg.exe) for generating thumbnails for any type of video file. Also other new features adds up. Note that, with the initial v4.0 the size was actually around 20MB and with v4.1.5 we reduced the size by 40% via making a custom build of ffmpeg.exe so that unused features were stripped as much as possible.

Thanks for the explanation.  I'll review the release notes to see what new features are here.

One thing I noticed with the new version is that the default view mode differs.  Do you have a guide which explains how to configure it to show folders as was done in the spring-2014 version? It had used a "detail mode" with one folder per row.

You should set ViewLayout property to "Details". Please refer to "Overview" in FileUltimate Examples project (or live demo), you can see the descriptions for all properties on the right pane:

ViewLayout property specifies the initial view layout type to display files and folders. Possible values are ExtraLargeIcons, LargeIcons, MediumIcons, SmallIcons, Details and Tiles. If omitted, LargeIcons will be used.
